Method

  1. Cook the sushi rice and keep it warm. The video shows a creamy sauce (likely Japanese mayonnaise) drizzled over the warm rice before assembly – fold it in if using.
  2. Line a rectangular baking pan (about 20x15 cm) with plastic wrap, leaving overhang on all sides.
  3. Lay one nori sheet in the bottom of the pan, covering it.
  4. Spread half the rice evenly over the nori and press flat with a rice paddle.
  5. Arrange the avocado slices in neat rows over the rice.
  6. Lay the smoked salmon slices over the avocado, covering the filling.
  7. Top with the remaining rice and press it flat.
  8. Lay the second nori sheet over the rice.
  9. Fold the plastic wrap over the top and press firmly with your hands to compact the layers.
  10. Lift the block out of the pan, cut it into squares with a sharp knife, and serve with soy sauce for dipping.

Notes

Servings: 12 squares (about 4-6 servings, 2-3 squares each). Per serving (estimated): 88 kcal, 10 g carbs, 4 g protein, 3 g fat, 1 g fiber. Macros are estimates computed from the ingredient amounts above; without the optional mayonnaise, about 80 kcal and 2.5 g fat per serving.

This recipe was extracted from a 12-second TikTok (joinequ, “Viral Lazy Sushi Hack”). The video shows no on-screen ingredient labels or spoken quantities – the narration only describes the concept (“All you need to do is layer it into a pan and press. No rolling required.”). All amounts above are estimates reconstructed from frame-by-frame analysis of the visuals. Confirmed from visuals: cooked white sushi rice, one halved avocado sliced thin, sliced smoked salmon, two nori sheets (bottom and top), a creamy squeeze-bottle sauce drizzled over the rice, and a plastic-wrap-lined glass pan used for pressing.

A thin yellow layer is visible in cross-sections of the finished pieces and may be tamagoyaki (Japanese omelet), but no egg appears anywhere in the assembly footage, so it is not included in this version. Rice vinegar-sugar-salt seasoning for the rice is standard but not shown and not included in the amounts above.
