What is the Godzilla of China? Is there an iconic monster that has a similar cultural resonance for the Chinese, as Godzilla does for Japan? Are Godzilla movies popular in China? Given the historical relationship between Japan and China, I could see the Chinese taking a dim view of Godzilla. But perhaps the Chinese regard Godzilla the same way most people in the U.S. do (mild fondness), despite our sometimes hostile relationships in the past.
