When I was in college, I really enjoyed being able to find cool people doing awesome things just by walking down to the lounge. It's been difficult to find that kind of community since then, which is why I'm happy to have landed at Tortuga, a 17 member intentional community here in Mountain View.

Sadly, some dear friends are moving out soon. But that means there are two spaces opening up for new friends to occupy!

One of them is in my unit, a five bedroom, two bath apartment. Roommates include me, Matt Bell, Paul Grasshoff, and Yolanda NotOnFacebook (a NASA grad student). It's available at the end of November. Rent will be $800/month + utilities. No dogs or cats allowed (too many of our friends are allergic).

The other room is available at the end of December, in a two bedroom, one bath residence shared with one other person, MW. MW is a sysadmin at a local biotech firm. Rent is as yet undetermined, but will likely be between $800 - $1000/month for full-time use.

The community shares a common lounge, hot tub, and courtyard. We host large parties every quarter, with small events in between. Recent smaller events have included ferrofluidic art, chestnut roasting, and extreme lounging.

Most of the residents are of a scientific bent. We value reasonableness, freedom, open mindedness, experimentation, and an ongoing commitment to personal growth. Among other things, we like to talk about 3-D imaging, anti-aging biology, Bitcoin, Seasteading, polyamory, and space exploration.

Resonate with you, or someone you know? Let me know! :)
