For those of you who aren't my science camp friends, I'm going to ask you for a favor. The National Youth Science Foundation allowed me to go to one of the most wonderful experience in my life, the National Youth Science Camp, back in 1990. The NYSF also operates other great STEM programs and would like to expand its offerings to an even wider audience.
The facilities that have housed the camp for over 50 years are dilapidated and disintegrating and are not capable of holding any additional programs. Since the NYSF doesn't own the property, there isn't much we can do about it; the bandaids that once worked no longer suffice.
However, the Foundation was just presented with an opportunity to utilize a beautiful facility in Canaan Valley, West Virginia. In order to take advantage of this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity, the NYSF needs to raise enough money to cover the operating expenses for five years. This is where you can help--by pledging whatever amount you can afford to help this dream become a reality.
We are so close to making our goal of $150,000 (currently at ~$128,000) with one day left to meet this goal. I hope you are able to contribute to this worthy cause. The NYSF is a 501(c)3 nonprofit, so all contributions are tax deductible. You can make a pledge at http://pledge.nysf.com/ If you want to make a one-time contribution, you can do so at http://donate.nysf.com/ Thanks so much for considering donating any amount.
