On the one hand, I think everyone should be able to do with their body what they please. On the other hand, sterilization is a permanent procedure (for the most part), with lifelong consequences.
If I were a physician, I would certainly try to persuade my patients to pursue less permanent procedures first, for the same reason that many tattoo artists won't tattoo someone's face.
