I think cuddle parties are a great idea, but they need a better name. For me, the word "cuddle" is associated with babies, and the interaction between mother and child, or between lovers.

Therefore it has connotations of infantilism, and a level of intimacy that many people find repellant when they imagine it between themselves and adult strangers.

Thoughts on alternate names?
