Maybe instead of elections we should have an Ender's Game style training program that selects for the features we'd want in a president: emotional balance, charisma, kindness, intelligence, and wisdom. The kids would be selected at random from the population, a representative sampling. (Let's suppose this number is 1000.) The training would consist of coursework in economics, foreign policy, negotiation, leadership, history, sociology, business, stats, logic, and scenario training relevant to what a President does. Every child selected for the program would receive $1 million/year for life.
Those who get into the top 5% would be eligible to be selected at random to be in the Presidency, beginning at age 25.
The Presidency would consist of three people. Decisions would require the vote of two of three. Each serves til age 65 (or until they quit), but each can be recalled by a plurality of voters (61%) every four years, at which time a new replacement is picked from the pool.
