Idea: mattress made with high temperature silicone rubber with a cover made from basalt fiber fabric. Such a mattress would be extremely fire resistant, chemically resistant, hypo-allergenic, and water proof. Think something like the purple mattress, but made of silicone rubber.
High temperature silicone can withstand temperatures up to 500 F/ 260 C. Basalt fabric can withstand temperatures up to 1800 F / 982 C. Basalt fiber also has a nice "hand" and a pretty golden color.
Downsides? Cost and weight. Silicone rubber is pretty heavy and expensive.
