In the San Francisco Bay Area, housing is so expensive that many people live in RV\'s or cars. In response, many cities passed ordinances which ban living in vehicles.\
\
However, a 2014 9th circuit appeals court decision invalidated anti vehicle sleep/dwell ordinances.\
\
The decision reverses Mountain View\'s 2013 ordinance which made \"sleeping in one's own private vehicle a crime punishable by a \$1,000 fine or up to six months in jail\":\
\
