For those of you interested in the fate of Techshop:
"Wow. It has been a whirlwind four days. As I'm finalizing some questions for tomorrow, I wanted to reach out to all of you.
Over the next days, weeks and months, people in this community will be making decisions - decisions about buying equipment, decisions about finding new Maker spaces, decisions about what model they want to throw their support behind, decisions about whether or not they'll continue in the community at all.
I have the incredible privilege to be working with a group of amazingly dedicated and talented people who are working to put together a vision for a space that serves this community in a way that no other space has. But we're a small group, and we all come with our personal biases and opinions and thoughts and views, and we're not always right. I've had fantastic conversations with people advocating for co-ops that really changed my view on them. I've had others walk me through ideas to better serve communities that TechShop largely ignored. I'm amazed at the complexity and depth of the task we face.
But ultimately, whether its us, or another team, or another person, SOMEONE will start making decisions that will lead directly to the next Maker Spaces that open in the Bay Area, and across the country.
Tomorrow, I am asking you to come out to Hacker Dojo and share your views, your dreams, your hopes, and your vision for the future. Without your input, we only know what we want, and it could not be more important to know what you want, as a community, while we move forward.
So please, if you can tomorrow, come and share with me, and with us, and with the maker community as a whole, your views, your hopes, your dreams, and help us build in a direction that can someday help fulfill all of those.
After this, we're putting rubber to the road and starting in a direction we hope will serve the Maker community. Please be a part of setting that direction and those goals so as this dream comes to fruition, it is part of your dream that comes alive."
