Google, like Facebook and Twitter, has been de-platforming a number of groups over the last few years: sex workers, firearms owners, recreational drug enthusiasts, (so-called) conspiracy theorists/hate groups, and so on. Even popular amateur scientist Cody Reeder (of Cody\'s Lab fame) has gotten into trouble several times.\

And of course, there\'s been longstanding exclusion of videos that contain sex/nudity, copyrighted content, or graphic violence.\
\
Fortunately, there are several new platforms emerging that are decentralized, and not under the control of any single company. One of the more promising platforms is Peertube, which is open source software which makes it easy for individuals to upload and share videos. It uses bittorrent on the backend, so if a video gets popular the creator is not overwhelmed by the bandwidth costs of serving the video.\
