Idea: floating lantern origami boats made from edible paper and edible glue. Put a bowl made of hard candy in the center, and fill it with 95 proof alcohol. Coat with a beeswax spray. The result should last long enough for a lantern ritual, but then dissolve without any harm to the environment.
