At the Foresight Vision conference, I asked someone the first project they would fund if given carte blanche, and they said they would buy the remote Panamanian island of Isla Escudo de Veraguas.
Their rationale? It's the only known habitat for Bradypus pygmaeus (also known as the pygmy sloth):

He thinks the best way to preserve the sloth is to turn the island into a private nature reserve. He thinks it could be acquired by a few million dollars.
