A friend writes in support of Sanders:
"And for what it's worth, the people of Vermont, who have had Sanders as their senator for the last few decades, really *really* like him. He's literally the most popular senator in the US, with an astonishing 64% approval rating. This counts for something."
I wouldn't assign much weight to it.
Despite killing ~9 million of his own citizens, secretly collaborating with Hitler to invade Poland (thus sparking WWII), and impoverishing hundreds of millions of people for decades under his autocratic rule, most Russians still think favorably of Stalin:
"A record 70% of Russian respondents say the late dictator of the former Soviet Union played a positive role for Russia, according to a recent poll by the independent Moscow-based Levada Center. Stalin's previous high mark for approval was 54% in 2016, The Moscow Times reported.
A further 51% of respondents said they viewed Stalin as a person in a favorable light, the highest percentage since 2001, Levada said on its website. Stalin's approval ratings were consistent across all age groups except among the 18-24 group, who were indifferent about the former Soviet leader."

I wish the folks who spend a lot of time scheming to elect Kang instead of Kodos, pushed instead to reduce the power government wields, so that even if a new Stalin wins office, his ability to cause damage is limited.
