We are looking for: Offshore Engineer for floating projects
Our offices are located in: Delft in the Start-up and Scale-up environment of Yes!Delft,
and in the floating pavilion in Rotterdam The Netherlands
Category of work: Offshore engineering, R & D
Job type: Permanent (year), 1 FTE (0,8 negotiable)
Language: High proficiency in English. Other languages (e.g. Dutch,
German, French, Spanish, Japanese) are a plus.
Degree: Master’s or PhD degree in naval architecture / offshore
engineering / maritime engineering / hydrodynamics / civil
engineering
Work experience: minimum 3-5 years
Key responsibilities:
- You will be designing and engineering world class floating projects, including residential
projects, recreational and commercial functions, infrastructures, food productions etc.
- During your work you will encounter and collaborate with a vast range of stakeholders
like innovative entrepreneurs, scientists, researchers, architects, subcontractors and more.
- Your findings will be reported in high-quality reports for both experts and non-experts.
- You will be the main coordinator of the offshore and maritime engineering in projects and
between the other maritime engineers in our company.
Main Tasks:
- To carry out technical feasibility studies for international and national clients.
- Engineering of floating platforms, connections, mooring system, and breakwaters in
maritime conditions. In some cases, this will be business as usual in other cases, we will
need to design and engineer something completely new and out of the box.
- Designing and engineering floating structures while taking into the account the wellbeing of a coral reefs during one project and dealing with drifting ice during the other.
- Researching and developing on sustainable floating structures from initial idea to
modelling, basin testing, design & engineering in project proposals and implementation.
- Suggesting and taking initiatives to improve internal operations within our company.
- Exploring, suggesting, and developing new projects and innovations.
- Working on proposals for new projects and new Research and Development ideas.
Requirements*:
- Large interest in floating projects (cities)
- Engineering experience in dealing in complex multi-disciplinary offshore projects
- Ability to maintain confidentiality
- Outside the box thinker, pioneering attitude, affinity with innovation
- Innovative skills and initiative to identify and implement business process improvements
and strive for creative solutions
- Software skills: Microsoft Office,
- Programming: Matlab, Python
- Software Tools: Solidworks, Autodesk AutoCAD,
- Hydrodynamic modelling: diffraction analyse, CFD
- Structural analyses: FEM
- *If not all requirements can be met, one has to have the willingness to acquire these.
Competencies:
- Excellent observation and analytical skills
- Strong communication, coordination, and networking skills to facilitate information flows
across colleagues and external partners
- Eager to learn more about new disciplines and work together with experts from different
fields.
- Flexibility and adaptability. You will be working in a highly dynamic environment. It is
