Being liberarian often feels like being the small kid that's constantly bullied by gangs on the playground. Libertarians make up about 5-10% of the population, depending on how strictly you define the term. As a result, by themselves, libertarians lack sufficient numbers to win most political popularity contests.
Thus, liberals and conservatives feel free to run roughshod over libertarians. They basically just laugh when libertarians object to being shanghaied into their latest social engineering scheme. They feel free to rob, bludgeon, kidnap, cage, and even murder libertarians if they object too vociferously.
What would have to change for libertarians to be left alone?
1. Grow the libertarian movement such that libertarians outnumber liberals and conservatives. Unfortunately, political beliefs appear to have a large genetic component. If that's the case, in order become the dominant political ideology, libertarians will have to the genes that code for a propensity to become a libertarian, and then try to spread those genes through the population. Maybe insert the libertarian genes into a virus, and then try to infect as much of the population as possible.
2. Encourage libertarians to have more kids. Libertarians tend to be smarter than average, and smart people tend to have fewer kids. How to encourage more libertarians to have more children? Professional child development centers?
3. Move onto a seastead in international waters.
4. Kill everyone who is not libertarian.
5. Sterilize everyone who is not libertarian.
6. Free State Project. Concentrate libertarians into an area that can be defended a la Switzerland.
