El Predio, a new concept of entrepreneurship
A combination of good food, a relaxed and safe environment, are the main elements of El Predio, a space where enjoying with friends or family is an experience that leaves a good taste in your mouth, because they offer excellent gourmet food dishes.
The Premises inaugurates a new concept of fun and recreation. This experiment, devised by North Americans Erick Later and Oliver Best, is inspired by Food Trucks, a culinary trend on wheels, which have spread to cities in North America.
At the moment, 7 fast food establishments have been installed that offer the public special gourmet-style menus, but Erick and Oliver continue to evaluate offers so that other businesses, mainly young entrepreneurs and lovers of good food, can establish themselves in that place.
The entrepreneurs
Erick Slater, from Chicago, and Oliver Best, from Portland, United States, are the creators of El Predio. Both are also owners of the renowned Pan de Vida pizzeria, whose establishment is a truck transformed into a rolling bakery.
Erick Slater comments that El Predio is an idea that was born from a problem. "We need a large space to install the truck here in Managua, we had the need to find a park to sell, we also needed electricity and water," he explains.
Thus was born the original idea of El Predio, as a solution for all entrepreneurs who have food carts, says Slater.
El Predio is a quiet place, ideal for families and where customers can satisfy the most varied tastes when it comes to food.
"This has been very good, we have more than 100 requests from people who want a business here. In addition to the people, the customers, they are much happier than we think. We are seeing smiles, people come with the whole family", Slater says.
Oliver Best, co-owner of El Predio, details that the place is an open space of 4 thousand square yards, located in one of the best points of the city, at the first entrance to Las Colinas.
"We have spaces for 9 carts, but we think that small shops selling things such as clothes, shoes and handicrafts can be set up," he explains and mentions that this type of business is common in the United States, where people can consume quality gourmet food at a really low price.
Oliver also reiterates that El Predio was born out of a need they had for their Bread of Life business. "We were thinking about our truck and an open restaurant, but when we saw that this lot is very large, then we thought about renting spaces for other businesses," he said.
In the coming weeks, families visiting El Predio will also be able to enjoy open-air cinema, games for children and music.
A country of opportunities
This pair of entrepreneurs also consider that the country provides the conditions, especially security, that allow investments, national or foreign, large or small, to develop quietly.
For them, as for the other entrepreneurs who accompany them in their new business concept, young people can develop their talents, create and innovate without any inconvenience in Nicaragua.
In the variety is the spice
El Calache, Grillers, Kiss Me, BBQ Shack, Truck & Bros, Pan de Vida, The Last Stop, are the first businesses that were installed in El Predio. Each offers a different food specialty and customers are satisfied with their culinary creations.
Gabriela Romano, co-owner of The Last Stop, says that her business that she runs with her brother, who is the chef, has been offering fast food in Managua for more than three years.
"But we have been located here in El Predio for a week. We have very good acceptance, there has been very good customer traffic, there is a lot of variety of food because it is not just us. This is an excellent concept, it has been very good, really the Creativity that the owners have is great, they are innovating not only in food. They have plans to put up screens, put on movies, live music and that is going to be very good for young people, "said Romano.
The Last Stop has offered visitors food ranging from paella and shrimp, to burgers with pesto, puyazo and ribs.
Marcela Betancourt, a worker at the BBQ Shack, says that in the two days they have settled in El Predio they have had a lot of acceptance and excellent sales.
"We are satisfied with this place, people come, see the menu and take what they like the most, they are delighted. We are offering barbecue pork ribs, brisket, shredded pork, burritos, sandwiches and all kinds of drinks. People have loved this concept and they have complimented us, "said Betancourt.
