As I\'ve aged, my sleep quality has declined. Actions that improve sleep:\
\
\* exercise\
\* avoiding alcohol\
\* blocking out morning light\
\
I\'ve also tried melatonin, 5-HTP, magnesium, and valerian root, both alone and in combination. If they have an effect, it\'s subtle enough that it\'s hard to tell from placebo.\
\
One combination that does seem to help quite a bit better than placebo:\
\
3-6 g kratom\
1-3 draws on a weed vaporizer\
\
This can knock me out for 8 - 11 hours. It gives me that warm, fuzzy sleepy feeling that I had when I was a child.\
\
Kratom has opiate like effects, including addiction potential, so I only use it when I\'ve had successive nights of sleep difficulty. And the combo can make me feel groggy long after I\'ve woken up.\
\
If you also have sleep difficulty, and nothing else seems to work, I recommend giving it a try.
