Kudos to whomever was behind this Tweet. Due to "first past the post" voting structure, ballot access laws, and other structural barriers, it's almost impossible for the Libertarian Party (or any third party) to win elective office in the US.

However, if the LP can't win, what's the point? In my view, one point could be to advocate for libertarian ideas / values. But how do you get the public's attention in the first place?

IMO, you don't spread ideas by taking 'safe' positions that no one objects to. You spread ideas by taking positions that are controversial or surprising--yet true.

If you're lucky, your enemies take the bait, and spread your ideas for you by attacking you publicly. Then, once people are paying attention to see what all the fooforah is about, you can explain why the controversial statement is true.

"The Libertarian Party of New Hampshire ignited a social media firestorm this week when it called for the legalization of child labor.

"Legalize child labor. Children will learn more on a job site than in public school," the New Hampshire Libertarian Party wrote on Twitter on Monday. "At the very least, the minimum age to work is a states' rights issue. Federal minimum work ages are unconstitutional."

"Child labor laws don't prevent 4-year-olds from working in the coal mines, they prevent 14-year-olds from working in flower shops," the post continued."
