










Rob Bell was a San Francisco based artist and engineer. Among other things, he created Zomes, beautiful geodesic structures built solely out of wood (no screws or other fasteners).
I didn't know him well, but I helped him setup and teardown his Zomes a few times for street festivals in SF. He also built a small backyard zome for one of my friends that made it out to Ephemerisle a couple of times. He struck me as a kind and intelligent person.
On December 23, 2019, he died in a house fire:

He was 57 years old.
Our time on Earth is so short and uncertain. I'm grateful I got to know him a little in our brief time on Earth together.
Although death of the body is the most important and greatest loss, death does not come all at once--there are degrees of death:
The last day you're loved by someone.
The last day your mind is mentally sharp.
The last day your body is alive.
The last day your name is said aloud.
The last day someone reflects on a memory of you.
The last day any written account of you survives.
