Issac Trotts I don't think libertarians biggest problem is tolerance. I think the biggest problem is aversion to coercing others. In order to survive in equilibrium with a mostly authoritarian world, libertarians must be able to make conquest sufficiently costly to dissuade would-be attackers. Authoritarians can force everyone to pay for defense, and can expect to profit later from the future stream of tax revenues. Principled libertarians can't force people to fight, and can't expect a generous future stream of income via taxation. As a result, libertarian societies find it difficult to mount an effective defense.
