Michael Pertile Remember, resources you spend preventing one cause of death are resources unavailable to spend on others.  Should we spend $10 million trying to stamp out bucket drownings?  Even if wildly successful, we'd save at most 50 lives a year. If you wouldn't spend $10 million to prevent bucket drownings, then it also doesn't make sense to spend it on stopping school shootings.
