[Edit: school shootings are so rare that I don't think it's necessary to acquire a gun just for that purpose. However, some teacher's may feel the need, and it's a good skill to have more generally.]

Let's assume that a teacher wanted to acquire a gun and learn how to use it properly. Assume for the sake of argument that the school is hostile to guns, and will fire the teacher if the gun is discovered. How would you answer the following questions:

1. Which gun?
2. Which training program?
3. How best to conceal?
4. How best to prevent unauthorized access (by students, fellow teachers)?

Here are my recommendation:

1. Ruger LCR revolver in 9mm. Reliable, easy to use, concealable, cheap ammo

2. https://basicpistol.nra.org/
3. A fanny pack can be worn with any style of clothing. https://thewellarmedwoman.com/product/the-well-armed-woman-cc-waist-pak/
4. Store the fanny pack in a locked desk drawer or locker. That way, you're much less likely to reveal you're carrying a gun accidentally. (At the risk of delaying access to your gun in a moment of necessity.) Don't store anything else in this drawer, so that you don't accidentally leave the drawer unlocked, and so that you don't have to sort through a bunch of junk to get to your fanny pack.

I would also buy two guns, one you keep in your desk, and one you keep at home (both the same model). That way, you can practice with your home gun, without carrying a gun back and forth through school security.

Self defense enthusiasts, what are your thoughts? Thanks!
