There are about \~73 million children under the age of 18 in the US. According to the Washington Post\'s numbers, there were 185 deaths from school shootings ( \~9 / year) between 1999 and 2021).\

To put that in perspective, \~20,000 children die every year from all causes. Therefore, school shootings represent 0.05% of all children\'s deaths. More than twice as many children (\~20) drown in buckets every year.\
