No, it's called intellectual consistency. If the USG murdered ten people, and the Canadian government murdered one person, then logically, the US has committed ten times the harm, right? If the USG then subsequently mounted a massive propaganda campaign to publicize the Canadian murder (while ignoring or downplaying the ten murders they committed), you'd rightly dismiss the USG's efforts as a disingenuous smokescreen to distract from the much greater harms caused by the USG, right? Did the Jan 6 cause harm? Yes, a little. Was it a coup attempt? Maybe, by a few crazy people. Should the Jan 6 protesters be punished? Yes, and they are being punished. Has the attention it received been far out of proportion to the much more damaging BLM riots? Yes. And the fact that this is true reeks of politically motivated hypocrisy to me.
