\"In my own research, I have used a dataset of all MLS-listed single-family home sales in New Hampshire since 2001 to estimate which towns are more or less costly than others. The statistical model can give us the expected price of a standardized house type in each locality. For example, consider a modest single-family house: built in 1950 on a half-acre lot, with three bedrooms and one and a half bathrooms and 1,500 square feet, sold in January 2020 (pre-pandemic). The model tells us that statewide, this house would have sold for about \$193,000. In Hanover, this house would have sold for about \$430,000. But in Canaan, it would have cost around \$170,000. \"\
