Paul C. Jeffries I disagree with the consequences as well, at least in the long run. The idea that there's a fixed "lump of labor" is a fallacy, because a) immigrants also create markets for goods / services and b) humans have infinite wants. It's the same reason that we can have near full employment, even though the population has grown 100X the size it was at its founding.
