Avens O'Brien Some gay friends hired a US surrogate and bought some eggs.  Total cost (circa 2000) was ~$120 K for a successful pregancy.  Among other things, they sent her for a week long vacation to Hawaii after the birth. It would've been about $100 K, but they had to make several implantation attempts before success.
