# Starr O'Hara Speaking for myself, using an artificial womb eliminates...

Starr O'Hara Speaking for myself, using an artificial womb eliminates the risk that the surrogate might be exposed to (alcohol/drugs, lead, cancer causing chemicals, motorcycles, war, accidents). A lot people think that surrogacy is inherently exploitative and the practice is banned in many countries. Artificial wombs are likely to cost less over the long term. No risk that the surrogate will change her mind, and try to keep the baby.
