"Just to name a handful, here are some commonly used inventions that actually came from Apollo." Okay, but what would've been done with the money, if it hadn't been seized by the government?  That the Apollo program / NASA hasn't been a complete waste doesn't mean that it wasn't a waste relative to the inventions that would've been made if it had been left in private hands instead.
