Anna Carrie I think the hatred of Skylar stemmed from the fact that she was a nagging harridan who didn't really seem to like or respect her husband. A big part of the reason he "broke bad" was to stick it to her after to years of listening to her complain and gritting his teeth to try to satisfy her. (Note, I don't think Skyler was a fundamentally bad character, nor that her behavior justified Walt's later actions. I'm only saying that her henpecking is the reasons she's hated, and a driver of Walt's behavior. )
