What do you mean by rupture?  I don't think any reasonably intelligent / mature couple expects that there will be no conflicts / arguments.  And I think every person has what Dan Savage calls "the price of admission":  an annoying trait/habit/failing that they're unlikely to improve upon significantly. IMO, what matters is that both parties share a common overall vision of their life together, similar values, and make a genuine effort to resolve their differences fairly, kindly, and without contempt.
