Censors believe that other people are like them, and that the "bad guys" will indeed try to censor the "good guys" in the future--even if the "good guys" choose not to censor in the present. Therefore, why shouldn't the "good guys" censor now, in the hopes that they'll extend and increase their power as much as possible in the meantime?
