The Nazis tried to wipe out an ethnic group that is heavily represented in the production of US film/TV/literature.  There aren't many Ukrainians and Armenians in Hollywood. Moreover, much of US intelligentsia were/are full-throated supporters of socialism.  So, they don't want to bring attention to the murders committed by other self-identified socialists.
