Barry Wat? Reagan was very pro-immigration and free trade. He signed off on amnesty for millions of Mexican immigrants, His last speech was in praise of immigration. Trump's signature issue is hostility to immigrants, and wants to build a prison wall across the continent staffed with at least 50,000 new border guards. Reagan promoted free trade, and signed off on NAFTA; Trump pushed for tariffs and import controls. Both Trump and Reagan pushed for tax cuts, but Reagan pushed hard for spending cuts as well. Trump spent like a drunken sailor, and showed little interest in cutting welfare programs. I don't think Trump has a coherent philosophy--he's flip flopped from Democrat to Republican many times over his life. IMO, he says/does whatever he thinks will get him elected, principles be damned. His "program" is a mish mash of populist nostrums that appeal to the economic illiterates on both sides of the aisle.
