Brad Templeton It's probably a mix of the two motivations.  If Tesla's are objectively better cars, and people are buying them for that reason, then Musk's political/cultural activities won't affect sales.  To the extent that people buy them to impress their progressive friends, then Musk's refusal to kowtow to their political beliefs might hurt sales.
