Elise Hecht Granting for the sake of argument the legitimacy of copyright law, if you study another artist, and that artist influences your work, I don't think that gives them the right to demand royalties from you. Writing a novel in the style of Anne Rice isn't the same as copying Anne Rice's work. Yes, AI's train on copyrighted works, but so does every other artist. The prompt + AI's work is still original.
