James Hand My aunt's picture is on the wall of the Idaho State Penitentiary. She was convicted of the murder of her father. He beat her and her brothers, so they put him in the trunk of their car, and drove out to the desert. Their intent was to make him walk back, to teach him a lesson. However, he suffocated from the exhaust fumes during the ride. Should she have been executed? Served the rest of her life in prison? While I think she deserved some punishment, both death and life imprisonment seem like excessive punishments given the circumstances of her crime.
