Minda Myers We also live in an era when teens have been infantilized. It was not uncommon for 14 - 15 year-olds to marry and have children in the past. The age of consent was 10 - 12 in most states for the first 100 years of US history. An estimated 100,000 teens under the age of 14 served in the Civil War.
