# Brett Tech itself is definitely going to be affected by AI. But...

*March 20, 2023 — Comment Archer T. Ships replied to Brett Cashman's comment.*

Brett Tech itself is definitely going to be affected by AI. But unlike many other professions who have successfully lobbied for legal barricades to protect themselves from competition (law, medicine, insurance, construction, etc), tech employees have always competed in a global marketplace with low barriers to entry. So, I don't expect the whining to be as great as it will be from fields whose income has depended on state-sponsored protectionism. I'm also confident that the luddites predictions of mass unemployment will be proven wrong once again, as they have every time in the past. The economy is not zero-sum, and there's not a fixed amount of work to be done.
