Tyson Jeffrey Geib The difference is that the collections agency is enforcing a contract that we both agreed to a priori.  Government tax is forced up on me, without my consent.  I only comply with tax collectors because I will be killed or imprisoned at their hands if I refuse.  It's the difference between voluntarily making love and getting raped. And yes, you could pull a gun on the private tax collections agency.  But they would also be armed.
