Roderick Tracy Long I think a given set of premises, settings, and characters has a finite number of good stories to tell. In an effort to create something fresh and new, there's a temptation to write stories that go against the character's personalities, which alienates the audience. Also, the original writers and actors often get bored, and want to move on, and either start phoning it in, and/or are replaced with performers of lesser talent.
