Elizabeth Jack You don't have to find gold useful yourself for it to be useful as currency. You only have to be assured that someone else will accept it. Counterfeiting is a problem, but not insurmountable, else gold wouldn't have found use as a currency in ancient Rome, medieval Europe, or 18th century US.
