Inventor and commentator: Suck Boy Tony. "This is a prototype electronically ignited, disintegrating 3D printed case .50 cal rifle which uses an electro-magnet to actuate the locking lug. Black powder is the propellant which gives super low pressures compared to something like 9mm, while still giving good velocity (900fps w/220gr bullet). It can also use smokeless once I switch to a metal barrel. It is currently mostly 3D printed due to necessity. The ammo is 3D printed; the case is designed to shatter during firing. The bullet jacket is 3D printed with octagonal rifling which matches the barrel (similar to Whitworth rifling), this jacket contains a .357 magnum bullet for weight. Costs about 10 cents in materials. ... The material costs for this is slightly less than $100, and can be printed on a $200 printer. ... No regulated parts involved, no primers for the cases, just a completely DIY project meant for apocalyptic situations where primers and smokeless powder are hard to come by (2020). ...
