Max Marty Personally, I'm very happy with the success fo the FSP. The search for the target state was quite thorough, and every other state that was considered would've had it's own downsides--the second place finisher was Wyoming, and I'm sure you can see some of the problems that state would have had. The cold also has the upside of screening out a lot of bad actors. Many people with terrible politics move to warm states like Florida simply because they're warm. That creates massive inertia for bad policies that would take huge numbers of activists to shift significantly. The point of the FSP isn't to make the Republicans slightly less bad, the point is to make significant strides toward liberty. Free Staters control the NH house, and have recently made gains in the Senate. As more libertarians move there (and more progressives move away in disgust), I only see their power growing. IMO, it would takes decades longer to achieve the same result in Florida, if it could be achieved at all.
