Max Marty You keep mentioning lack of economic opportunity. New Hampshire has an unemployment rate of 2.1%, which I believe is third lowest of any state (Florida rate is 2.6%, and Texas is 4.0%). It has the third highest median household income ($88 K). Manchester (the biggest city) is close enough to Boston that you can live there, and work in Boston if you like. Lot's of tech, crypto companies. New Hampshire routinely tops "quality of life" rankings. I don't think there would be much competition if you wanted to try your strategy in a southern state. The libertarians who would be satisfied playing Iago to the Republican Party aren't the same as the libertarians who want to be the king. That said, I think you'll find it quite difficult to win any concessions from Republicans/Democrats. Even in NH, the state with the most libertarians ever, most of the wins have been in areas where libertarian and conservative interests overlap (such as school vouchers and guns). Where they conflict, libertarians have made little progress. NH still doesn't have recreational cannabis, despite overwhelming popular support and support from the libertarians/Democrats, due to intransigent Republicans in the Senate. And there's been some backsliding as well--NH just made abortion more restrictive than it was (though no worse than the surrounding states).
