David Weinshenker Agree, as I tried to convey, I think that one should follow protocols that truly improve safety, listen carefully to people with experience, and build in wide safety margins, among other things.  Especially when carrying passengers who are trusting you to get them out unharmed.  I just think that some (many?) safety regulations serve other purposes, and that skirting them doesn't mean you've necessarily done something wrong.
