One thing that I think many progressives don\'t understand is that many libertarians and conservatives aren\'t opposed to giving historically disadvantaged people a leg up.\
\
What we object to is a) tilting the scales to allow the less competent to win out over the more qualified b) allowing governments to discriminate based on race.\
\
In other words, if you want to give disadvantaged black kids more training/mentorship such that they\'re able to succeed based on their skills and actual accomplishment, that\'s great!\
\
Many of us also in favor of removing barriers to success. For example, if you\'re born a genius to a farm family in rural Ethiopia, you\'re at a severe disadvantage to a genius of similar capability born in San Francisco.\
\
If we lifted immigration suppression laws, it would allow people born in impoverished, oppressive environments to escape to greener pastures in the US.\
\
Back in the 1943, Martin Jenkins set about to find the smartest black kids in the US. He was able to identify 16 children with an IQ of 160 or higher.\
\
Such high IQ\'s are extremely rare; fewer than 1/10 of 1 per cent of school children are to be found at or above Binet IQ 160. At the time, Jenkins found 16 black children who had a tested IQ above 160. Some of the data collected on the kids is listed in the table below.\
\
It seems to me there would be value in finding and helping similar children today. I\'ve not yet found a non-profit that a) identifies high IQ black children in Africa, and b) provides them with an enriched education and environment. Think Xavier\'s School for Gifted Youngsters but for high IQ kids from Africa (or India/South America).\
\
Does such a nonprofit already exist?\
