Stephen Williams Society as a whole didn't enslave the blacks though.  That was southern Democrats, remember?  Jim Crow laws were instituted by southern Democrats.  Northern Republicans fought _against_ slavery, and fought to free the slaves.  Northern Republicans forced the Southern Democrats to end Jim Crow.  Republicans probably deserve restitution as well, for being forced to spend so much to clean up the mess southern Democrats had made.
