I agree with you regarding the social benefits of Mormon culture.  Unfortunately, the foundation of Mormon belief is based on bad epistemology, and the Mormon scriptures (upon which the theology of the church are based) are basically 1830's historical fiction/science fiction.  I found that I didn't want to participate in a culture that I think is, at root, based on fraud and falsehoods. FWIW, I'm planning to move to New Hampshire soon as part of the Free State Project.  One of the main reasons I want to move is because I've felt a hunger for a community of like-minded people for a long time.  And I'm expecting/hoping that I'll find a crowd of "my people" there.
